JILL JUUSOLA

Jill is an experienced weaver, seamstress and mixed media artist.

She has a degree in Public Health Nursing but early in her career moved to Guatemala and lived there for 7 years. While there, she took lessons in weaving both in tapestry and working on the backstrap loom. On returning to Canada, she enrolled in some art classes at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario and studied both weaving and drawing. She wove tapestries on and off for the next 20 years but since selling her loom two years ago, has started to try different mediums. She has been a workshop junkie for years and is now enrolled in an online art school. Jill has always loved faces so that is where her interest lies at the moment. She is learning to draw and paint in all different mediums like acrylic, water soluble pens and pencils, water colours and alcohol markers and eventually would like to incorporate some of these ideas into fabric collaborations. Jill has also worked with gourds for years either painting, burning or sculpting them. With a very busy life, she uses her art side to keep herself sane!
